EXP2 - WK7 - Site Section

Based on the terrain of the site (contour), it is clear that our site (for community centre) is lower than the surroundings. Therefore, i wanted to create a building which is high-rise. But one problem with a high-rise design would be the blocking of the view of the coogee beach for the buildings which are located behind the community centre.
Therefore, my approach for the community centre design was that i would make only one section of the centre tall, which is going to be a tower in the middle.

EXP2 - WK7 - Detailed Section

These are scanned images of 1:20 Detailed Section of my design.
The first image depicts the overall design of the Community Centre.
The second image shows the upper part - Tower, which has a cafe(reastaurant), a small meeting area, office areas for employees and managers.
The third image displays southern section of the centre - gym and kitchen facilities, toilets.
In the last image, i wanted to show materiality of the centre - therefore, i have included pasted image of brick

EXP3.WK13 - FINAL MODEL

The drawings that i have done include floor plans of ground and second floors and one sectional rendered drawing.

MODEL 1. Facade/Entry - visible through windows however not fully, giving hints of what's displayed inside
2. Circulation - maximising space usage by employing circulation as display space
3. The size of the painting is big in the ground level with a small amount of light getting through, the size becoming smaller in the upper levels, where a large amount of light comes in.
4. Display area - near the entrace, there is open area where large drawings can be hung.

These are images of my final model, showing external as well as internal aspects of the art gallery.

1. The very first photo shows the back of the building, where the courtyard is (for displaying sculpture works).

2. The second image shows how the building fits within the surrounding buildings. It is a bit higher than neighbouring buildings, just to gain natural lighting.

3. This photo captures the ground floor, where the ramp is used for circulation as well as displaying artworks (maximising space usage).

4. Top view, a very exposed and open area, with a large amount of natural lighting.

5. The second floor plan, where it is considered to be the connecting point between the gallery owner's space and the displaying artworks areas.

EXP3.WK13 - FINAL SITE MODEL

SITE 1. the building has a large number of openings and windows (quite open area), the lighting is a critical point. Needed a site where natural lighting is entirely available.
2. Busy part of Newtown area. However, neighbouring stores are hotel, takeaway shops (retail),
it doesn't belong to the group, therefore my site stands out (isolated - theme for this project)

ARTWORKS 1. artworks which are related to the theme of isolation
2. Since the building itself gives a sense of light-weighted, the artworks inside the space, is going to be something solid, dark, heavy-weighted.

These are images of my final site model and drawings.
The first two show the site model, at a scale of 1:100.
The last two show the site drawing, at the same scale.

EXP3.WK12 - SKETCHUP DEVELOPMENT

These are the captures of my final design for project three in sketch-up version. Each of the captured images shows whole, side, front and top view, respectively.

EXP3.WK11 - MODEL DEVELOPMENT

These are images of my first attemp for designing art gallery.
It is composed of a number of small buildings, including
display areas, entrance, galler owner house, stockroom, etc.
The circulation from the entrance to the display area is used as courtyard,
for displaying sculpture works.

Both display areas have an opening in their roofing, just to allow skylight.
I have separated the gallery owner's living and working spaces
from the display areas
because of gallery owner is introverted and inhibited person
